It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
At roughly 2:30 p.m. today in a lower Manhattan courtroom, Donald J. Trump was officially arraigned on criminal charges related to hush money payments made in 2016.
Following weeks of hearing evidence, the news broke on Thursday (March 30, 2023) that the Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Trump on criminal charges. Speculations on the possible charges and number of charges, as well as the potential timeline leading to Trump’s official arrest, have kept people busy all weekend. Official charges remained sealed until after the arraignment.
The Official Criminal Charges
Thirty-four — yes that’s 34! — , felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree! No misdemeanors! ALL FELONIES! [More on this later…]
More Criminal Charges Ahead
It’s been a long time coming and is by far only the beginning. Criminal charges are likely to follow in coming months related to other criminal cases, including the federal Mar-a-Lago documents case, the January 6th Capitol riot, and the Georgia election interference case.
It’s going to be a big year. Perhaps even two or more big years. Buckle up!
